Oh man, Malenia's Waterfowl Dance. You and about 99% of Elden Ring players know that pain, trust me. It's easily one of the most infamously brutal attacks in any FromSoft game.
Now, about parrying it... here's the kicker: you generally *don't* parry Waterfowl Dance. Like, at all. Trying to parry it consistently is almost certainly going to get you absolutely shredded. It's not really a parry-able attack in the traditional sense where you get a full deflection and a riposte opportunity. If you're trying to time a shield parry for that, that's why you're getting annihilated. It's designed to be avoided or interrupted, not parried.
Most people deal with it by either:
1. **Running away like hell:** When she jumps into the air for the first flurry, sprint directly *away* from her. For the second flurry, dodge *into* her, and for the third, dodge away again or just try to tank it with high vigor/armor if you can't get clear. It's super specific and takes a lot of practice to get the hang of the movement.
2. **Bloodhound's Step:** If you're okay with using certain Ash of Wars, Bloodhound's Step makes it significantly more manageable. You can pretty much iframe through all the flurries with good timing. A lot of people consider it essential for dealing with her if they're struggling.
3. **Interrupting her:** This is often the best "secret." If you can deal enough poise damage or status effects (like frostbite with freezing pots) right as she starts to jump, you can actually knock her out of the animation entirely. Freezing pots are a surprisingly effective tool for this. Keep an eye on her posture and try to get a stagger as she's about to leap.
4. **Summons:** Black Knife Tiche or even your Mimic Tear can sometimes draw her aggro during the attack, giving you a breather, though it's not foolproof.
Honestly, there's no "secret parry button" for it. It's all about avoiding, interrupting, or just cheesing it with certain tools. It's a brutal wall, but you'll get it eventually! Good luck, Tarnished!
