It’s been an incredible transformation to watch. Seeing the stills from Outcome (which just premiered on Apple TV on April 10th), he is genuinely unrecognizable next to Keanu Reeves.
Reports indicate he’s lost nearly 200 lbs, dropping from around 375 lbs at his heaviest to a lean 180 lbs. While he’s fluctuated for roles in the past (like gaining for War Dogs), this latest shift for Outcome seems to be his most dramatic yet.
Jonah Hill’s Transformation Blueprint
His “Japanese-inspired” approach isn’t a new fad for him, but rather a long-term strategy he’s refined over the years:
- The Diet: He’s been a long-time advocate of sushi and Japanese cuisine as his primary healthy alternative to junk food and beer. He once joked that if he just stops drinking beer, he gets thin, but sushi has been his consistent “clean” fuel.
- The Fitness: Beyond standard gym sessions, he leaned into boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to stay active.
- The Look: For his role as Ira, a crisis lawyer in Outcome, he’s paired the lean physique with a completely bald head and a thick, grey-flecked beard, which adds to that “hardened professional” vibe the character requires.
What’s also been great to see is his openness about the mental side of it. He’s mentioned before that the public’s obsession with his body for two decades really messed with his head, so seeing him take control of his health on his own terms is a huge win.
Are you planning on checking out Outcome? The cast is stacked—Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz, and even a Martin Scorsese cameo.
