Catholic MORNING PRAYER TODAY ? FRIDAY November 21, 2025

Good morning. Here is the Catholic Morning Prayer for Friday, November 21, 2025, which celebrates the Memorial of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

This prayer follows the Liturgy of the Hours for Friday of the 33rd Week in Ordinary Time (Psalter Week I).

Morning Prayer for Friday, November 21, 2025

Sign of the Cross In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Invocation Lord, open my lips. And my mouth will proclaim your praise.

The Morning Psalm

Today’s Psalm is Psalm 51 (Miserere), the traditional Friday morning prayer of repentance and renewal.

Psalm 51:3-21 R. Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.

Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness; in the greatness of your compassion wipe out my offense. Thoroughly wash me from my guilt and of my sin cleanse me.

For I acknowledge my offense, and my sin is before me always: “Against you only have I sinned, and done what is evil in your sight.”

That you may be justified when you give sentence and be without reproach when you judge. O see, in guilt I was born, a sinner was I conceived.

Indeed you love truth in the heart; then in the secret of my heart teach me wisdom. O purify me, then I shall be clean; O wash me, I shall be whiter than snow.

Make me hear rejoicing and gladness, that the bones you have crushed may revive. From my sins turn away your face and blot out all my guilt.

A pure heart create for me, O God, put a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence, nor deprive me of your holy spirit.

Give me again the joy of your help; with a spirit of fervor sustain me, that I may teach transgressors your ways and sinners may return to you.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

The Gospel of the Day

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke (19:45-48)

Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things, saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.’”

And every day he was teaching in the temple area. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death, but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words.

The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Reflection & Intercessions

On this Feast of the Presentation of Mary, we are reminded that our hearts, like the Temple, are meant to be dwelling places for God. Just as Mary dedicated herself wholly to the Lord, let us pray for the grace to cleanse our own temples of distraction and sin.

Let us pray:

  • For the Church: that she may always be a house of prayer and a sanctuary of peace for all nations.
  • For those who have wandered from the faith: that they may find in God a compassionate Father who washes away all guilt.
  • For ourselves: that like the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may offer our lives as a pure and pleasing sacrifice to God.

Closing Prayer

As we venerate the glorious memory of the most holy Virgin Mary, grant, we pray, O Lord, through her intercession, that we, too, may merit to receive from the fullness of your grace. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Blessing May the Lord bless us, protect us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.
